Las Cruces Police Department Honors Officer Weir’s Retirement

Throughout his career, he served in patrol, traffic and crash reconstruction before finding his specialty in digital forensics, an area he dedicated more than 18 years to.

After more than 24 years of service, Senior Officer Max Weir is closing out an incredible career with the Las Cruces Police Department.

Born and raised right here in Las Cruces, Weir spent more than two decades serving the community he has always called home.

Throughout his career, he served in patrol, traffic and crash reconstruction before finding his specialty in digital forensics, an area he dedicated more than 18 years to. During that time, he conducted more than 1,000 forensic examinations, assisted with hundreds of major investigations and served for more than 15 years as a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officer.

But his impact goes well beyond the cases he worked. He spent much of his career sharing his knowledge, teaching and mentoring fellow officers and investigators, helping strengthen the people who will continue the work after him.

A lifelong Las Cruces resident, proud husband and father of three, Max leaves LCPD grateful for the friendships, experiences and opportunity to spend his career serving his hometown.
