White Sands Missile Range will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks Friday with a remembrance ceremony and a series of Patriot Day activities honoring those who died and the first responders who served that day.
The observance begins with a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Main Post Chapel, Building 265. Service members are asked to attend in duty uniform, while civilian attire is business casual.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Gary Sinise Foundation will provide lunch at the Frontier Club honoring firefighters, police officers and other first responders. The lunch is open to all while supplies last.
The day will conclude with a 9/11 Stair Climb from 4 to 6 p.m. at the LC-32 Gantry. The climb is open to the WSMR community, with participation limited to CAC cardholders and dependents.
“America’s Range” framed Friday’s observances around a message of remembrance as the nation reaches a quarter-century since the attacks.
