County Launches Route Ready Road Network Resilience Plan 

Route Ready will evaluate the County’s road network to better understand where vulnerabilities exist, how disruptions affect access and connectivity, and where reliable routes are especially important for communities and emergency response.

Doña Ana County has officially launched Route Ready, a countywide Road Network Resilience Plan focused on understanding how flooding, extreme weather and other hazards affect the roads and routes communities rely on. Community members can now share their experiences through the Route Ready project website. The engagement period will remain open through November 1, 2026. 

Route Ready will evaluate the County’s road network to better understand where vulnerabilities exist, how disruptions affect access and connectivity, and where reliable routes are especially important for communities and emergency response. The plan will combine community and stakeholder input with technical analysis to identify priorities and strategies for the future. 

“Reliable roads are essential in Doña Ana County,” Director of Public Works, Dan Sambrano said. “Route Ready will help us better understand where roadway hazards create challenges for your communities and how we can plan for a more reliable and resilient road network.”

Community members can participate in one of two activities: 

• Interactive Map: Drop a pin to show where you experience roadway hazards and how they affect you. 
• Short Survey: Share your experience with roadway hazards, where they occur and how they affect access and reliability. 

Community input will be considered alongside additional technical data, existing conditions and stakeholder feedback to help identify roadway vulnerabilities and inform future strategies and recommendations.

Doña Ana County Route Ready is a federally funded, countywide Road Network Resilience Plan focused on understanding vulnerabilities across the road network and identifying strategies to support long-term reliability, access and resilience. The final plan will help guide future transportation decisions, project development, partnerships and funding opportunities.
