Rhea Seehorn has won her first Emmy Award for a second memorable character brought to life in New Mexico.
Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Monday night for her portrayal of Carol Sturka in Pluribus, the Apple TV series created by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan.
The award came after three previous Emmy nominations for Seehorn, including two for her portrayal of attorney Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. She was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for that role in 2022 and 2023, along with a 2022 nomination for Cooper’s Bar.
The connection between Seehorn’s two best-known roles was highlighted earlier by the New Mexico Film Office: different characters and different worlds, but both rooted in productions with New Mexico at their center.
Better Call Saul became closely identified with Albuquerque and New Mexico during its six-season run. Pluribuscontinued Seehorn’s connection to the state, with New Mexico among the production’s filming locations.
Seehorn’s win was also part of a strong Emmy showing for Pluribus. The series received 18 nominations for the 2026 awards, with recognition extending to acting, writing, directing, cinematography, casting, editing, music, sound and production design.
For Seehorn, however, Monday night’s award ended a long wait.
After earning acclaim but no Emmy for Kim Wexler, she returned to New Mexico with Gilligan, took on an entirely different character — and this time went home with the trophy.
