State seeks administrator for rural health information system

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Health Care Authority is seeking a qualified organization to coordinate and administer the Rural Health Data Hub initiative, a state-wide healthcare information system.  

The selected administrator will work with HCA, rural health care providers, Tribal communities and other partners to: 

• Administer HCA-approved funding to help providers participate in health information exchange and improve data readiness; 
• Gather input and identify priority health data needs and uses; 
• Develop the Rural Health Data Hub Strategy and Implementation Plan; and
• Coordinate HCA-directed implementation of the approved plan. 

“Rural providers need access to timely health information to support better care and stronger communities,” said Elisa Wrede acting rural health director at the New Mexico Health Care Authority. “This initiative will help us build on the technology New Mexico already has and develop a practical plan that reflects the needs of rural, frontier and Tribal communities.” 

This procurement is for an administrator to coordinate the initiative. It is not seeking a vendor to design, build, host or operate a specific technology platform. HCA will retain final approval over program priorities, funding decisions, technology architecture and implementation activities.

Proposals are due Monday, September 21 at 5:00 PM MDT. The full Request for Proposals and application instructions are available at www.hca.nm.gov/rht. All questions must be submitted through the process identified in the RFP.
