New Mexico State University film students are once again looking beyond campus to find the faces who will appear in their productions.
NMSU’s Creative Media Institute will hold an open casting call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, in the lobby of Milton Hall, 2915 McFie Circle.
The casting call is open to community members of all ages, with no previous acting experience required. Participants will read scenes provided by CMI and may be added to an actor database used by students casting upcoming films and other projects.
Last year’s open call demonstrated just how much interest exists outside the classroom. CMI reported that 101 actors auditioned during the event, thanking participants afterward for helping students bring their films to life.
The database gives student filmmakers a pool of potential performers to draw from as projects move into production, while giving Las Cruces residents an opportunity to become directly involved in films being made at NMSU.
