Las Cruces Public Schools Launches ‘Thank a Principal’ Community Appreciation Campaign

To honor principals, LCPS invites students, staff, families and alumni to help celebrate the principals who have made a difference in their lives through a “Thank a Principal” video appreciation campaign.

A great principal can leave an impression that lasts long after a student leaves the classroom, and Las Cruces Public Schools hopes the community will help celebrate those leaders ahead of National Principals Month in October.  

To honor principals, LCPS invites students, staff, families and alumni to help celebrate the principals who have made a difference in their lives through a “Thank a Principal” video appreciation campaign.

“Maybe it was the principal who knew every student by name, or the one who showed up at games, concerts and every school event,” said LCPS Superintendent Ignacio Ruiz, who was also a principal in his public education career. “Principals are our building leaders who offer encouragement, believe in our students and staff, and create a culture where all students can thrive. We celebrate them every month, and hope our community will show them support in October.”

Community members are invited to record a brief video message recognizing a current or former LCPS principal who shaped their educational experience — in or out of the classroom. Selected messages will be shared throughout October on LCPS social media platforms.
