New Mexico National Guard Activates Team for Flood Response in Hondo

HONDO, N.M. — Following steady rainfall across portions of New Mexico this week, the New Mexico National Guard has activated an eight-member team to support local authorities in Hondo.

The team, consisting of five members of the New Mexico National Guard Community Emergency Response Team and three additional Soldiers, is currently en route to the area.

Upon arrival, Guard members will assist local authorities with evacuation notifications and conduct health and welfare checks in potentially affected areas.

No rescue missions have been required at this time.

The New Mexico National Guard remains prepared to respond as needed and will continue coordinating with state and local emergency management partners as weather conditions develop.
