New Mexico Department of Transportation crews are clearing sand and debris from state roads following this week’s heavy rainfall and flooding across southern New Mexico.
NMDOT’s Anthony Patrol was working along NM 273 and the Interstate 25 frontage road, where floodwaters deposited significant amounts of sand and debris.
The department said multiple roads throughout NMDOT District One were affected by the week’s rainfall.
With the heaviest rains now passed, according to NMDOT, crews are working through affected roads as conditions allow, clearing material left behind by the flooding.
NMDOT said crews will continue working through the affected areas as quickly and safely as possible.
