SANTA FE ─ The Taxation and Revenue Department will hold live delinquent property tax auctions in Sandoval and Mora Counties in late September and October, allowing in-person attendees to submit bids for the properties.

The auctions are intended to collect delinquent property taxes when taxes have been delinquent for at least three years. The state notifies delinquent taxpayers about the taxes due and planned sales of property. If the state is unable to collect the delinquent taxes, the subject properties are auctioned for sale.

Following the auction, the state collects all taxes due and sends any excess revenue to the former property owner.

Auctions have been scheduled in the following counties:

  • Sandoval County, 10 a.m., Sept. 30, Bernalillo Recreation Center – 370 Rotary Park Road, Bernalillo, N.M. 87004
  • Mora County, 10 a.m., Oct. 8, Luna Community College, Mora Site – 335 State Highway 518, Mora, N.M. 87732

Successful bidders are required to make payment in full prior to the conclusion of the auction by money order, certified check, cashier’s check or a personal or business check if accompanied by a bank letter of credit that guarantees payment in at least the amount bid.
