Former Las Cruces High School volleyball standout Addison Massey is making an early mark in her freshman season at Kansas State, earning a place on the Big 12 Starting Seven for the second time this season.

Massey, a Las Cruces native and multiple-time Gatorade New Mexico Volleyball Player of the Year while playing for the Bulldawgs, was selected for the conference’s weekly Starting Seven after leading the Big 12 with 5.14 kills per set during the week.

She recorded 36 total kills and 37 points, including a career-high and match-leading 23 kills against No. 18 BYU. It was her third 20-kill performance of the season.

The performance earned Massey her second Big 12 Starting Seven selection. She previously received the honor Sept. 22.

For the season, Massey ranks fourth in the Big 12 in both kills per set at 4.36 and points per set at 4.94. Her points-per-set average ranks 17th nationally, according to Kansas State. She enters this week’s matches four kills short of 200 for the season.

Massey’s college success follows a decorated career at Las Cruces High, where she played for the reigning New Mexico state champion Bulldawgs.

Back in Las Cruces, her former program is again in the middle of the District 3-5A race. Las Cruces and Centennial are tied for first at 1-0 in district play, with both teams carrying 11-4 overall records.

Kansas State returns to Big 12 play on the road this week, facing Iowa State on Oct. 9 before visiting No. 23 Colorado on Oct. 11. Both matches are scheduled to air on ESPN+.
