MIDLAND, Texas – The NM State men’s golf team captured the team title at the Tall City Collegiate on Tuesday, firing rounds of 285, 281 and 277 to finish at 21-under-par 843 at the event hosted by Wyoming at Midland Country Club. The Aggies led the field by two strokes and finished ahead of Northern Colorado (845) and Kansas City (852) to claim the tournament championship.

NM State recorded its best score in the final round as it posted an 11-under-par 277 in the final round to secure the victory. This marked the second-lowest single-round score by any team on the week. Additionally, the Aggies were the only team to place four golfers inside the top 10 individually.

Leading the way for the Crimson & White was Max Chan, who tied for seventh at 5-under after carding rounds of 71, 72 and a final-round 68. Mateo Payán, Brasen Briones and Jackson Funkhouser each finished tied for 10th at 4-under. Funkhouser turned in the Aggies’ lowest round of the tournament with a final-round 67, while Briones posted back-to-back rounds under par as he shot a 70 in each of the final two rounds. Payán opened the event with a 3-under and stayed at par or better throughout the event.
