Doña Ana Road is closed between Lujan Road and Highway 187 following a train derailment, according to an announcement from Doña Ana County.
County officials are asking motorists to avoid the affected area, use alternate routes and allow crews to complete the work necessary to clear the roadway safely.
The road is expected to reopen by Friday afternoon, October 23, although the county cautioned that reopening depends on the completion of cleanup operations.
The county’s announcement did not specify when the derailment occurred, how many railcars were involved, what caused the incident or whether any injuries were reported.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
