Representatives from White Sands Missile Range were at New Mexico State University Oct. 20 and 21 to talk about internship program opportunities in partnership with the NMSU College of Engineering.
The group started the day on Oct. 20 visiting classes within the engineering department and held a Federal Resume Workshop for students interested in applying.

Dianna R. McDaniel, with WSMR Human Resources, said WSMR Day at NMSU is a chance to educate students about opportunities at WSMR. The group was representing Army Test and Evaluation Command, the U.S. Navy, the Center for Countermeasures, and the Transformation Decision Analysis Center.
She said they had a chance to talk to engineering students about the various opportunities Army wide and at WSMR.

“Students were engaged hearing about the opportunities and what they can learn from internships,” said Dr. Oscar Perez, with the Transformation Decision Analysis Center at WSMR. “We taught them how they can look for jobs and what to put on their resumes.”
McDaniel said internship opportunities have opened at WSMR to include scholarship programs.
“We are looking forward to recruiting students for summer opportunities.”
Student Jerry Aguirre, a mechanical engineering technologies sophomore at NMSU, said it was very convenient that representatives from WSMR came down to the university because many students are looking for jobs.
“Having them here makes the job search easier for us versus us trying to find web sites and trying to figure out where to apply and how to apply. It is better having someone to talk to in person,” Aguirre said.
