Trimness, Muscling and Quality: NMSU Students Compete in Two Meat Judging Competitions; Nationals Up Next

Meat Science is the study of meat, including its production, preparation, and preservation. Through meat science, students learn about animal welfare, meat composition, nutritional value, wholesomeness, food safety, and consumer acceptability.

Beef Empire Days Contest

In September, the NMSU meat judging team travelled to Garden City, KS for the Beef Empire Days Contest hosted by Garden City Community College! Thank you Tyson Foods, National Beef, and West Texas A&M University for allowing the team to practice in your facilities. Next contest, the American Royal in Omaha, NE. Go Aggies!

American Royal Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest

This past weekend, the NMSU meat judging team travelled to the American Royal in Omaha, NE. Thank you so much to Nebraska Beef for hosting the contest and to University of Nebraska-Lincoln Meat Science for hosting a workout in their facilities. Contest results below:
