Doña Ana County appreciates the time and work invested in the recently completed Special Audit and sees the process as a key opportunity to strengthen County operations and continue building on improvements that are already underway.

Over the past several months, County leadership and departments have been actively reviewing processes, improving coordination and communication, and identifying ways to better support employees and serve the public. While the report does identify areas that require continued attention, many of those efforts were already in progress prior to the completion of the audit.

The County also wants to recognize that this was a significant undertaking, requiring the participation and cooperation of employees across departments and elected offices. We are grateful to the many staff members who dedicated countless hours to providing information to support a thorough and quality review.

“This audit provides valuable insight and an important opportunity for growth. While many improvements were already underway before the completion of this report, we do recognize there is more work ahead. The Board of County Commissioners and County leadership are committed to continued improvement to support the health, well-being and trust of the people we serve,” Manuel Sanchez, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners said.

Doña Ana County is committed to continuous improvement ensuring that we operate with transparency, accountability and professionalism. The County is carefully reviewing the report and recommendations and will continue to work collaboratively to address findings and strengthen systems that support our employees and better serve our residents.
