Three people were hospitalized Friday after a single-engine aircraft crashed near a runway at the Santa Teresa International Jetport.
According to Doña Ana County officials, emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. to the jetport, located at 8014 Airport Road. Personnel from Doña Ana Fire Rescue and the Sunland Park Fire Department responded to the scene.

All three occupants sustained serious injuries.
Doña Ana County reported that two patients were airlifted to area hospitals while a third patient was transported by ground ambulance. The Sunland Park Fire Department later reported that its personnel transported one patient with critical injuries by ambulance while two additional patients were flown to hospitals by helicopter.

Emergency responders remained on scene Friday afternoon as authorities began investigating the cause of the crash.
New Mexico State Police is leading the investigation. No additional information about the aircraft, the identities of those involved, or the circumstances surrounding the crash had been released as of Friday afternoon.
