A large semi-truck fire along Interstate 10 near the fairgrounds prompted a lengthy closure of eastbound lanes Thursday afternoon as crews from Doña Ana Fire Rescue and Las Cruces Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze and clear the scene.
According to updates from county public safety officials, the fire was successfully extinguished Thursday afternoon, though eastbound traffic remained impacted for several hours as crews monitored hotspots and conducted cleanup operations.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., eastbound lanes were closed beginning near mile marker 117. By 5:45 p.m., officials reported that Interstate 10 at mile marker 123 remained closed to eastbound traffic while Doña Ana Fire Rescue cleared the scene following the fire.
Motorists traveling through the area were advised to expect delays. No additional updates or injuries had been reported as of late Thursday evening.
